Class Experience

My experience in this class as a whole has been really good.  Some parts may have been a little too slow, and some parts may have been a little too fast, but overall I successfully learned valuable information in a timely manner.

My favorite module was Module 4: WYSIWYG because I didn’t realize how bad I was at navigating website that I am not familiar with.  Using Google Sites for the first time really opened my eye to how easy it is for people to post things on the Internet.  This module made me feel really stupid, but at the same time it motivated me to understand the web design process even more.

My lease favorite module was Module 1: Introduction to Web 2.0 and Web Publishing because it didn’t seem to teach me any skills.  It was just reading and repeating knowledge without having a new experience to reflect upon.  It did however ask us to reflect upon old experience, but I didn’t really find those experiences relevant to this class.

After this class I think I will stick with Google Sites, Google Blogger, and Google Wiki because it is nice that they are all used within Google, so it will be nice not having to sign in and out of a million different websites.  I have noticed lately that I don’t seem to use Facebook anymore.  I think Google+ would be a better option for me, and I can share things from my website or my blog very easily on Google+.  I also think I am going to make this email my “fun” email and keep everything about Hugo.  It’s silly, but I enjoy it.  My family and friends do too.

Therefore, I need to make myself another professional email, especially since I’m graduating, that I can use for career purposes.  Google would be a great way for me to put out my resumes, work samples, and have the ability to share it over social networking sites.  I think I still have a lot of practicing to do with these editors before I can say that I truly understand them, but I have learned a lot of basics that will help me find the answers to any problems that I may come across.

As far as my academics go, I don’t know how many more group projects I will have.  If there is a group project, I will definitely suggest using a Wiki to keep all of our information together.  In the past I have used drop box, but that doesn’t work in real time and people often have to download it.  A Wiki is a great educational tool.  It seems like someone should have taught them to me in high school or even earlier.

As I have mentioned before, I am taking a web design class next semester.  After this class, I feel completely prepared for whatever will come.  I am also excited to have the opportunity to further develop my web design skills and maintain them so I do not forget all of the valuable information I have learned here.
