Class Experience

My experience in this class as a whole has been really good.  Some parts may have been a little too slow, and some parts may have been a little too fast, but overall I successfully learned valuable information in a timely manner.

My favorite module was Module 4: WYSIWYG because I didn’t realize how bad I was at navigating website that I am not familiar with.  Using Google Sites for the first time really opened my eye to how easy it is for people to post things on the Internet.  This module made me feel really stupid, but at the same time it motivated me to understand the web design process even more.

My lease favorite module was Module 1: Introduction to Web 2.0 and Web Publishing because it didn’t seem to teach me any skills.  It was just reading and repeating knowledge without having a new experience to reflect upon.  It did however ask us to reflect upon old experience, but I didn’t really find those experiences relevant to this class.

After this class I think I will stick with Google Sites, Google Blogger, and Google Wiki because it is nice that they are all used within Google, so it will be nice not having to sign in and out of a million different websites.  I have noticed lately that I don’t seem to use Facebook anymore.  I think Google+ would be a better option for me, and I can share things from my website or my blog very easily on Google+.  I also think I am going to make this email my “fun” email and keep everything about Hugo.  It’s silly, but I enjoy it.  My family and friends do too.

Therefore, I need to make myself another professional email, especially since I’m graduating, that I can use for career purposes.  Google would be a great way for me to put out my resumes, work samples, and have the ability to share it over social networking sites.  I think I still have a lot of practicing to do with these editors before I can say that I truly understand them, but I have learned a lot of basics that will help me find the answers to any problems that I may come across.

As far as my academics go, I don’t know how many more group projects I will have.  If there is a group project, I will definitely suggest using a Wiki to keep all of our information together.  In the past I have used drop box, but that doesn’t work in real time and people often have to download it.  A Wiki is a great educational tool.  It seems like someone should have taught them to me in high school or even earlier.

As I have mentioned before, I am taking a web design class next semester.  After this class, I feel completely prepared for whatever will come.  I am also excited to have the opportunity to further develop my web design skills and maintain them so I do not forget all of the valuable information I have learned here.

Blogging Experience

My Blogging experience has been pretty great! I plan to keep this blog after the class is over so I will have a way to show my family pictures of Hugo and tells funny little stories.  The whole purpose will be entertainment for me, and those who read my blog.  It is amazing how people become obsessed with such simple things, such as Boston Terriers.  I’m hoping to find more Boston Terrier blogs for Hugo to interact with.

Before this class I had read blogs before (ones that were linked to Pinterest), but I didn’t realize that I had blogging experience until after I read the Wikipedia site about Blogs and remembered my old LiveJournal account!  It was really funny going back to read my old posts from elementary school.  I was a weird kid.  I guess I still am.  Overall, this experience has helped me understand who I am and what I want out of the Internet.

I also learned that people could make money from blogs!  I did not know that, and I think I might start getting into that if I can.  I like all of the tips that were given in the module, as well as the examples.  They were very inspirational.

My only dislike is that I don’t feel like I have control over exactly how the blog and posts look. It seems as if I started with this basic HTML that I had complete control over, yet was bare, to a WYSIWYG website that I had less control over, but more visual interest, to this blog which I have the least control over, yet the most visual interest.  I am still working on making it look the way that I want it to look, and using WYSIWYG and HTML together will really help me find a successful medium in my future.

Retreat!

After a long stroll through the forest, over the river, and to some treats, Sir Warrior Hugo Milton had to stop and rest. He was very far from his final destination of BT town, where all BT's where granted magical powers.  Yet, Hugo felt weak.  He could no longer continue on his walk.  He retreated into his cage for the night.  Alas, he will continue his warrior duties once again multiple hours after the sun rises.  Until then, Sir Warrior Hugo Milton will guard his cage like a true American Gentlemen.  He is proud to be an American.  In fact, we was nominated for BT President last year and is now Co-Prez with his brother Sir Harvey Winchester.  Hugo, however, gets to life in the big white house cage and Harvey doesn't.  HAHA.  But do not be fooled by the gentle face upon thy Hugo, for you do not know the wrath within Hugo's Cage.

Adventures of the Forest Warrier

On a dark and dreary day, Sir Warrior Hugo Milton went galavanting in the forest to find some tasty treats to bring home to his poor starving brother Sir Peasant Harvey Winchester. But then the sun came out and Sir Warrior Hugo Milton found a nice sunny spot to sleep.  However, the rays of sun were beams of magic that turned each blade of grass into a tasty treat.  Hugo called Harvey on his cellular bone to come over and feast with him.  They ate from dawn until dusk, but when the clock struck midnight they threw up grass until sunrise.
